Game Update 8.5 Patch Notes - Thank You for 1 Year! | "Princesses of Canopy Kingdom"

1 Year of Autumn Development - Thank You!

Over the past year, our focus has been on strengthening Skullgirls Mobile from the ground up. Through infrastructure upgrades, refactors, new features, and quality of life improvements, we’ve been laying the foundation for what’s ahead. From debuting new fighters like Mad Malice Marie and Tyrannical Painwheel, to introducing Fortune’s Favor, Guilds, the Undying Event, a new seasonal system built around the Headliner Relic, and Beowulf’s Origin Story, every step has been part of building momentum for the game.

That momentum is still growing, and we’re committed to showing up for you every day. Thank you for your trust, and for continuing to be part of the Skullgirls community.

Super Marie Mode

This month is all about powering up how our fighters play. We’re introducing new mechanics that push their identities further and give you more ways to take control of the fight.

The new variants this month are Flower Power Fukua and Comet Custodian Marie who are here to kick some royal butt. But Comet Custodian Marie gets something really special: Hilgard can now persist once summoned, turning a moment of power into sustained pressure that changes how she’s played.

Alongside these updates, we’re making major improvements to the Webstore to give you more value, and bringing re-introducing Master Mode for a certain cartoon calamity. If you thought triple Cerebella or Triple Robo-Fortune was tough...

New Backstage Pass: Princesses of Canopy Kingdom

Flower Power Fukua

Element: Fire

Stats

Gold:

Base Attack: 248

Base HP: 1698

Diamond:

Base Attack: 484

Base HP: 3311

Signature Ability: Power UP!

SA1: Every 2 seconds, unless either Fighter lands a HIT, suffer HEAVY BLEED for 2 seconds. When HITTING an attacking opponent remove up to 1/2/3 DEBUFF(S) from self.

SA2: While not suffering from any DEBUFF, Fukua gains IMMUNITY, INVINCIBILITY, and UNFLINCHING for 2/3/4 seconds each when HITTING an opponent in the air.

Comet Custodian Marie

Element: Air

Stats

Diamond:

Base Attack: 617

Base HP: 3753

Signature Ability: Hilgard of the Stars

SA1: Once summoned, Hilgard will remain on stage until Marie is KNOCKED DOWN or TAGS OUT. While Hilgard is on stage, Marie has a 20/35/50% chance to prevent an incoming DEBUFF and inflict HEAL BLOCK and CURSE for 10 seconds each.

SA2: Remove all opponent BUFFS and increase damage by 33/66/100% for the rest of the COMBO when the opponent BOUNCES off a wall.

Additional Note:

For this variant, with Hilgard remaining on the stage, you will be able to do some brand new combos using Hilgard’s Haymaker and Hilgard’s Howl. Hilgard’s Haymaker in particular can be chained together into multiple punches in a way that doesn’t normally work. Try to make some new combos with this Marie variant!

Relic Updates:

Key Relics:

When Key Relics were introduced last year, they were designed to offer increased access to higher-tier keys by removing Bronze Keys and providing incredibly high Gold and Diamond drop rates. Since then, we’ve expanded how players can earn Diamond Keys through other features and rewards.

With that in mind, we’re updating Key Relics to reintroduce Bronze Keys and rebalance overall drop rates.

Updated Key Relic Odds Table:

Key

Drop Rate (Standard)

+1 Bonus Drop Rate

Bronze Key

55%

0%

Silver Key

35%

72%

Gold Key

Tree of Life Diamond Relic (2026)

Last month, we released the Headliner Relic and made a change to the Monthly Diamond Relics that drop from Prize Fights to include all of the Diamond Fighters in the Headliner Relic at an equal chance. We’ve listened to your feedback and are making a change to now include the most recently released Diamond Fighter at a 50% drop rate in the Monthly Diamond Relic. That means that this month, Comet Custodian Marie will have a 50% drop rate from the Sunshine Diamond Relic at the end of the Spring Cleaning Prize Fight! All other Diamonds have an equal 10% chance to be in the relic.

  • Comet Custodian Marie (50% Drop Chance!)
  • Fatal Fray Ms. Fortune
  • Grand Mother Double
  • Locked ‘N’ Loaded Black Dahlia
  • Soulbound Annie
  • Idol Echo Fukua

Prize Fight Win Streak

In this patch, we’ve introduced an additional way to continue your win streak in Prize Fights after a loss. In addition to the existing option to spend Theonite, players can now watch an ad to continue their streak once every 30 minutes.

This feature is entirely optional, and there have been no changes to the cost or behavior of the existing Theonite option. It simply provides an alternative way to continue a win streak.

Skull Points (New)

Skull Points replaces the existing Reward Points (RP) system to be more streamlined, transparent, and flexible to use:

  • Earn Skull Points equal to 10% of eligible purchases, automatically added to your account after each purchase
  • Skull Points can still be used towards product purchases on the webstore
  • Skull Points can now also be used for real money purchases, including as partial payments
  • Existing RP balances will be converted to Skull Points at 1 RP to 4 Skull Points

Peacock Origin Story Master Mode Re-tuning

This month, we’ve updated Peacock’s Origin Story Master difficulty with a tuning and reward pass. Progress in the existing Master mode will be reset, allowing all players to experience the updated version and earn its rewards again. We also have a few additional announcements to share.

Origin Story Master Mode Accolades:

For both Peacock and Beowulf’s Origin Stories, we’ve created a couple new accolades for completing them at 100%. For anyone who has completed Beowulf’s Origin Story on Master difficulty already, you will be able to log in and claim the accolade immediately.

New Ultra Exclusive Peacock:

With us revisiting Peacock’s Origin Story, we decided to create a new Ultra Exclusive Peacock variant, which is available only in Peacock’s Hand-Drawn Relic.

Solid Gold Peacock

Element: Neutral

Stats

Gold:

Base Attack: 297

Base HP: 1698

Diamond:

Base Attack: 579

Base HP: 3311

Signature Ability: Worth the Wait

SA1: Every 15 seconds, permanently increase Attack by 25/30/35% and Crit Rate by 10/15/20% (even while benched).

SA2: When either Fighter lands a CRITICAL HIT, 30/40/50% chance to gain ENRAGE and BLESSING for 10 seconds each.

Cabinet of Curiosities: Avatars Available

In this patch, we’re introducing a way to obtain avatars from the past through the Cabinet of Curiosities Theonite Tab. Only avatars from the Backstage Pass, previously purchasable, and non-exclusive avatars from 6 months ago or longer will appear in the Cabinet of Curiosities at 1250 Theonite each. Only ones you don’t own will appear in the CoC, so if you see one, you don’t have it!

Bug Fixes

This month, instead of balance changes, we’ve focused on fixing some gameplay bugs. There are still more on our radar, but this is a first pass. Thank you for your patience while these bugs were being worked on!

Soulbound Annie:

  • Hex is now always successfully applied to benched opponents when entering Star Power.
  • Tagging out an opponent while in Star Power will no longer have the incoming opponent affected with a Timeless Hex.

Star Shine Annie:

  • Fixed an issue where Star Shine would not gain Permanent Precision if she had Timed precision on her already.

Chill Guy Beowulf:

  • Fixed an issue where SA1 and SA2 were not triggering off of blocked Projectile Hits.

Megasonic Big Band:

  • Fixed an issue where SA1 was not triggering off of blocked Projectile Hits.

Dark Lord Eliza:

  • Fixed an issue where SA1’s Enemy death effects could trigger more than once.

Clue Chaser Filia:

  • Changed SA2’s text to say that it only ignores DEFENSE, not ARMOR and DEFENSE, to match functionality.

Hell’s Belle Fukua:

  • Fixed an issue where dead teammates would gain Evasion, which blocked some effects on Dead characters.

Superluminal Valentine:

  • Fixed an issue where dead teammates would gain Evasion, which blocked some effects on Dead characters.

Star-Crossed Parasoul:

  • Fixed an issue where all Guard Break stacks would not be removed upon tagging out.

Imminent Threat Catalyst:

  • Fixed an issue where its effects would apply even if Parasoul was not the active Fighter or not in the fight at all.

Known Issues:

The Headliner Relic Silver Fighters that appear in the scrolling reel in the Relic Store show last month’s silvers, but will properly display the right new list as noted in the patch notes.

Thank you, as always, for your support and for being part of this journey with us. We’re grateful for the chance to keep growing Skullgirls Mobile together!
