Game Update 8.4 Patch Notes - Fatal Cut | "Springtime Exposure"

The final cut is in and we are picture locked. Beowulf's Origin Story and animatics are now ready for the small screen.
Patch 8.4 sharpens the focus with one of our largest system updates, and the debut of two variants who know exactly how to work the camera. Double Exposure Robo-Fortune and Fatal Fray Ms. Fortune step into frame and are ready to exercise any and all demons.
About that large system update. We are excited to announce an all new relic, the Headliner Relic, alongside a full overhaul of our monthly relic structure. The spotlight’s shifting, the stage is getting bigger, and the way you chase fighters is evolving with it. We’re also expanding the beloved Fortune’s Favor pity system to support this new addition. Giving you even more ways to build toward the fighters you want.
And then there's the main event.
For the first time in years, a new Origin Story arrives. The legend of Beowulf steps into the ring, not as the King of the Ring, but as the man who had to earn it. Before the Hurting. Before the roar. Before the myth.

SA2: When STUN expires on the opponent, grant EVASION for 10/12/15 seconds to Robo-Fortune and inflict HEAVY BLEED for 5 seconds to the opponent.

SA1: When either Fighter lands a BLOCKED HIT, suffer a random DEBUFF for 5/7/10 seconds and permanently decrease the opponent’s ATTACK and DEFENSE by 4%.
SA2: When either Fighter uses a SPECIAL MOVE, transfer all DEBUFFS to the opponent and gain EVASION for 5 seconds and IMMUNITY for 5/7/10 seconds. If a DEBUFF was transferred, heal for 2% MAX HEALTH for each DEBUFF on the opponent.
Relic Updates:
Introducing the Headliner Relic!
This month marks the debut of the Headliner Relic, a new way to unlock the game’s latest fighters. Taking the place of monthly relics, it becomes the primary path for adding the newest stars to your collection moving forward. Here’s how they work:
Headliner Relics contain Silver, Gold, and Diamond variants. Silver variants will cycle monthly. For Gold and Diamond variants, the most recent 6 months of released fighters will be available in the Headliner Relic. Each month, the oldest Gold and Diamond variants will transition into the Standard Pool of fighters to make room for the new incoming Gold and Diamond variants.
Additionally, Fortune’s Favor has also been expanded to include Headliner Relics! This will be similar but separate from the current Premiere Relic Fortune's Favor. With Fortune’s Favor for Headliner Relics, you’ll be able to select a single Diamond variant released within the past six months. When a Diamond drops from the Headliner Relic or your Headliner Relic counter hits 100, it will be the exact Diamond fighter you’ve chosen.
You can either change your choice for Fortune’s Favor from the Fortune button in the Collection, or before you open your Headliner Relics, similar to the Fortune's Favor for Premiere Relics picks. While in the Fortune’s Favor menu, there are arrows on the left and right side of the screen that will switch between your choices for Premiere Relics and Headliner Relics.
You may notice that Nail Biter Squigly and Dark Lord Eliza are currently included in the Headliner Relic’s contents, even though they’ve already been added to the Standard Relic Pool. This is to maintain that there are 6 months of fighters in here. Nail Biter and Dark Lord are still in the Standard Relic pool, but we’ve also included in there for now. They will be leaving the Headliner Relic next month to make room for the new, incoming fighters.

"Ultra Rare Exclusive Variants"

Fan Favorite Beowulf and Number Cruncher Robo-Fortune
For a long time, Fan Favorite Beowulf and Number Cruncher Robo-Fortune have been unobtainable for most players. With this update, we are introducing the ability to obtain both of them through in-game means, while respecting their ultra rare nature as ultra rare exclusives. These first two exclusives will only be obtainable in their respective Character Relics. This means that the Smackdown Relic (Beowulf) and Random-Access Relic (Robo Fortune) will contain these ultra exclusive, highly sought after variants. All other character relics will remain unchanged. Below are the updated odds for these two relics, now including the ultra rare exclusives:

Backstage Pass Rewards Updates
With patch 8.4, we’ve updated some of the rewards for the Backstage Pass. On all tracks (Free, All Access, All Access+), we’ve increased the number of Headliner Relics and Premiere Relics you can earn across all tiers!
We have removed one of the three avatars, and aligned the remaining two on the same (Free and All Access) node at level 35.
Diamond Character Prize Fights Reward Update
We’ve added a Headliner Relic as a reward for completing the final tier of the Diamond Character Prize Fight!
Parallel Realms Reward Update
We’ve added a Headliner Relic as a reward for fully completing any difficulty of Parallel Realms!
Shard Exchange Updates
With the introduction of the Headliner Relic, we are removing variants from the Shard Exchange tab in the store.
Balance Updates
This month, we have some changes to Fly Trap Painwheel, Star-Crossed Parasoul, and Fan Favorite Beowulf.
Star-Crossed Parasoul:
OLD:
SA1: A well-timed BLOCK against standard attacks has a 50% chance to STUN the opponent for 1/2/3 second(s).
SA2: BLOCKBUSTERS deal 50/75/100% bonus damage against STUNNED opponents.
NEW:
SA1: Well-timed BLOCKS STUN the opponent for 3/4/5 seconds and inflict GUARD BREAK. GUARD BREAK is removed when Parasoul TAGS OUT.
SA2: BLOCKBUSTERS deal 50/75/100% bonus damage against opponents suffering from GUARD BREAK.
Fly Trap Painwheel:
OLD:
SA1: Deal 15/20/25% bonus damage for each defeated Fighter, teammate, or opponent.
SA2: Gain 3/4/5 stacks of REGEN after defeating an opponent.
NEW:
SA1: Permanently increase Painwheel’s ATTACK by 25% for every 25/20/15% HEALTH lost by any Fighter. While Painwheel is the active Fighter, benched teammates also heal for 15/20/25% HEALTH.
SA2: Gain 1/2/3 stacks of permanent REGEN when defeating an opponent. Gain MIASMA for 3 3/6/9 seconds every 3 seconds while benefiting from REGEN.
Fan Favorite Beowulf:
OLD:
SA1: While Beowulf is alive, teammates gain FINAL STAND for 5/7/10 seconds every 30 seconds.
SA2: Inflict DEATH MARK and gain 2 stacks of ENRAGE for 5/7/10 seconds each when activating HYPE MODE while Beowulf has living teammates.
NEW:
SA1: While Beowulf is alive, all teammates gain FINAL STAND and UNFLINCHING for 5/7/10 seconds each every 20 seconds.

Quality of Life Improvements
Fortune’s Favor (Premiere and Headliner):
As an update this month for Fortune’s Favor, in both the Premiere Relic and Headliner Relic, you can now clear your choices so that you don’t have a preferred choice. This will make it so that when a Gold or Diamond drops (if you’ve cleared your choices for them), it will grant a random Gold or Diamond from the Standard Pool, as if you didn’t choose in the first place.
Social and Guild Social Gift Conversion:
You can now convert Social Gifts and Guild Social Gifts in batches of 100 → 10, making it much faster to exchange them if you’ve built up a surplus.
